BukSU Libona Campus initiates emergency response measures

LIBONA BUKIDNON – As part of the campus’ preventive measures on emergency situations, Bukidnon State University Libona Satellite Campus initiated a fire seminar training and earthquake drill on March 9 and March 20, 2023 respectively.

The said drills aimed to educate and train the campus community on fire and earthquake safety protocols, prevention, and response measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the personnel in such situations.

The earthquake drill commenced at the campus ground. The sound of an alarm signaled the start of the drill, simulating an earthquake scenario. Immediately, students, faculty, and staff followed the established protocols, which included “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.”

The Libona Disaster Risk Reduction Municipal Office, headed by Mr. Nepthalie A. Montoya, RN, EMTB evaluated the conduct of the earthquake drill.

The evaluation by the Libona Disaster Risk Reduction Municipal Office provided valuable insights into the effectiveness of the university’s emergency response plans and protocols. Through the drill, areas for improvement were identified, enabling the university administration to refine their strategies and further enhance the campus’ overall disaster preparedness.

It was a crucial event that aimed to enhance earthquake preparedness and response capabilities. The active participation of all students, faculty, and staff demonstrated their commitment to their safety and their dedication to being well-prepared for potential disasters.

The satellite campus also conducted a fire seminar training and drill on March 9, 2023. The Fire Marshall of Libona Fire Station headed by Senior Fire Officer IV Jomer Ojeda facilitated the drill. Expert firefighters and safety personnel were invited to provide the necessary training and knowledge to ensure the safety and preparedness of the university community.

The seminar involved presentations on fire safety practices, the proper use of fire extinguishers, evacuation procedures, and the importance of early detection and reporting of fires. The training and practical drill equipped the university community with essential fire safety knowledge and practical skills, empowering them to respond effectively in case of an actual fire emergency.
