MALAYBALAY CITY – Atty. Ryan L. Estevez, Outgoing Officer-In-Charge President, officially turned over the BukSU Presidency to the new President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol during the Presidency Turnover Ceremony held at the University Mini Theater on April 21, 2023.
During the first part of the program, Atty. Estevez said that his experiences with BukSU made him touch base with reality. He also cited the importance of experiencing the ‘ground’ to expand each horizon and connect with people.
“Seeing all the facets of the University was an enriching experience. It basically changed my entire paradigm on my teaching and administration…it made a big mark on my formation,” he added.
The Outgoing OIC President described his stay in BukSU as “Unprecedented” and that the cooperation of everyone in the community made his term a bliss.
“Let us love BukSU because not only is this place our source of income, but this is the best place we should be,” he said.
He emphasized that loving BukSU means we do not need to drag our feet to work because we love our place and our people.
After his message, the ceremonial turnover of BukSU Presidency took place. Atty. Estevez handed the university mace to the newly elected University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol.
The university mace is symbolic of the President’s institutional authority. The gold-plated mace gives prominence to the university’s seal and its topmost placement symbolizes the core of leadership lies in the commitment to serve Bukidnon State University to achieve its quest for excellence on the field of Higher Education.
In her message of acceptance, the president-elect Dr. Joy M. Mirasol said that she is committed to building bridges instead of walls and fostering collaborations in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of BukSU Community.
“I believe that by working together, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve greater things,” she said.
She mentioned the “SMART BukSU – A Campus of the Future” as her trajectory in the next four or eight years.
“I am honored to serve as your President, and I am excited as well about possibilities that lie ahead. Let us work together to make Bukidnon State University the best it can be,” she added.
TRIBUTE TO ATTY. ESTEVEZ
On the second part of the program, the BukSU Community honored the exemplary service rendered by Atty. Estevez for four months of leadership and service. He started his term as OIC President on October 21, 2022 and ended his term on February 13, 2023.
CHED Commissioner Jo Mark M. Libre, Chair of BukSU Board of Regents, was virtually present and expressed his gratitude to Atty. Estevez.
He said that Atty. Ryan has created the foundation of success and has created something very memorable in a short period of time.
“You have provided the University with excellent service. Your contribution to the community, to the partner organizations, even to our stakeholders especially to the Indigenous people, have distinguished you in this challenge,” he added.
Comm. Libre also extended his congratulations and support to President-elect Dr. Joy M. Mirasol. He said that he has no doubt that Dr. Mirasol will be more than capable of leading the university.
“The governing board of BukSU offers 110% support for your initiatives and plans for the SMART BukSU,” he added.
The University administration, Faculty Association, Non-Teaching Employees Association, and Supreme Student Council gave a Plaque of Recognition to the outgoing OIC President for his contributions and transformative leadership to Bukidnon State University.
The different units and offices have prepared video greetings to Atty. Estevez. These were played during the program.
The University Employees Band and Dance Troupe also graced the event through their performances. University top officials, college deans, directors, chairpersons, and unit heads were in attendance during the said program. (Ms. Diana Rose B. Lagoy/Information Unit)
