BukSU faculty off to US for scholarship program

MALAYBALAY CITY/OP-IPS- A senior faculty from the College of Education qualifies for Fulbright Advanced Research and University Lecturing Program scholarship at the Syracuse Campus, New York, USA.

Dr. Nornie B. Micayabas has traveled to the State University of New York (SUNY), Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse Campus, New York, USA, as visiting scholar of the Fulbright Advanced Research and University Lecturing Program.

Her foreign visit to the host university spans from August 27, 2022, until January 2, 2023.

The Fulbright Advanced Research and University Lecturing Program also called the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, is a scholarship for researchers and professors for the implementation of their research projects at American universities, non-profit research institutes, and some government institutions.

Grants are awarded for a period of three to five months. These awards cover travel, tuition, stipend, books, professional activities, and health and accident insurance. All fields are eligible except medicine, nursing, engineering, applied mathematics, and applied sciences.

The eligibility requirements for the scholarship are Philippine citizenship, a doctoral degree or equivalent professional training or experience, and proficiency in English appropriate to the proposed lecturing or research project to be carried out in the United States. Accordingly, some 800 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States each year. (Diana Rose B.
