BukSU wins regional GAD Quiz Bee

MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Bukidnon State University won in the Regional Development Council Region-10 – Gender and Development Virtual Quiz Bee on March 31, 2022 as part of the Women’s Month Celebration.

The competition, which was participated by 29 agencies of the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC-X), was designed to shed light on the gendered effects paired with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Teams from regional line agencies, local government units, academe, and the private sector competed in the quiz bee, which covered easy to difficult general GAD topics.

The BukSU Quiz Bee team was composed of Ms. Rely Jean R. Dalunhay, COB GAD Coordinator, Mr. Emenheil Earl A. Edulsa, COE GAD Coordinator, and Ms. Shaunell Mary YJ Sayson, COE-ELS GAD Coordinator. The team bagged the top place followed by Department of Education – Division of El Salvador City (2nd place), Province of Misamis Occidental (3rd place), Department of Social Welfare and Development – Field Office – 10 (4th place), and Department of Education – Division of Oroquieta City (5th place).

Based on studies, as many families across the world faced poverty, women are still seen to be more vulnerable than men.

Stakeholders in the Philippines, including those in Northern Mindanao, through the Regional GAD Council, vowed to be more involved in sustainability efforts. Among the aims is to host programs and projects of regional agencies and local government units that build the leadership capacities of women and open opportunities for girls to develop their potentials in becoming change-makers.  (Dr. Marichu B. Montecillo/Gender and Development Unit)
