MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) The Commission on Higher Education – 10 gave a nod to Bukidnon State University’s application for limited face to face classes in its College of Nursing after the former’s onsite inspection and evaluation.
Dr. Arlita Amapola Minguez, Education Supervisor of CHED-10, hailed the university’s application saying “it has raised the bar high in terms of the production of protocols and stringent requirements to comply with.”
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Health (DOH) and local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) representatives approved the university’s application during the exit conference of the onsite inspection visit and evaluation on April 16, 2021.
The approval prioritizes the classes in Related Learning Experience (RLE), which entails Skills Laboratory and Clinical Hospital Duty, as mandated.
Dr. Minguez said the real challenge now is the implementation of the established protocols with the stakeholders.
Together with the CHED-10 Education Specialist Dr. Mirriam B. Fuentes and Malaybalay City Health Office representative/Incident Management Team Officer, Mr. Sonny Manuel, the team commended the university administration and the College of Nursing for their collaborative preparation efforts.
CHED Chair J. Prospero E. de Vera III said in a press release on March 26, that selected allied health-related courses like Medicine, Nursing, Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science, Physical Therapy, Midwifery, and Public Health, were selected to empower students to attain key learning outcomes on specific laboratory skills and hospital-based clinical practicum/internship.
He added that it was also meant to deliver supplementary workforce to the country’s health system. (Trisha Ysobelle M. Morales, RN for the College of Nursing)
