MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Fun and competitions marked Bukidnon State University College of Law’ successful celebration of the Anual Law Week from March 8 to 13, 2021 with the theme “Law Students Unhindered; Redefining Competitions in the New Normal”.

The College of Law Student Government and the College of Law prepared a set of activities to celebrate the Law Week.

Whether pre-pandemic or at present, Law Week has had the same effect on both students and professors. They were excited not only because of the break from the tons of readings for the different law subjects, but also because of the chance to interact with one another virtually.

During the Law Week, preparations and activities centered on topics other than the law subjects. It was the first-ever Law Week held online. However, some activities have to be cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions and limitations. Nonetheless, students and professors alike anticipated what would be in store for the new version of the Law Week, pandemic-style.

Law Student Government (LSG) President Ms. Ira Kristel M. Onahon headed the team who organized and facilitated the week-long activity. Organizers said the first-ever online Law Week was successful and fun thanks to the collective efforts of the LSG, the College of Law, and the various Law School organizations.

Organizers said it would not have been half as fun without the competitiveness and participation of the law school’s professors and students in the TikTok Challenge and the Trivia Night.

The activities did not only challenge wit of the students but it also measured their capacities as Law undergraduates.

The Online Debate, Trivia, Quiz Bee, Dean’s Cup (Virtual Fun Run, and Mobile Legends are the activities done virtually. All of these events showed how law students tried to prove that “teamwork makes the dream works.” The Sophomores emerged as champions.

The Law Week was also about celebrating the success of the recent bar passers during the Testimonial Night. As per tradition, the BukSU College of Law invited its new lawyers to share their experiences of becoming a Board-Certified Lawyer. They have imparted inspiring stories on how they have conquered the bar dragon despite facing challenges.

The new lawyers’ stories motivated the aspiring law students to become a lawyer. It was indeed a stress reliever and a break from academic work.
