Getting to know 7 of BukSU’s Academic Programs

Bukidnon State University is committed to quality education. It consistently
submits itself to accreditation with the Accrediting
Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP).  As of August 2019, there are already 20 out of the 28 academic programs of the University that are accredited levels I, II, and III. This year, seven of the undergraduate and graduate programs have been evaluated for Level 4
accreditation, as follows:

BACHELOR OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

The Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) includes a broad curriculum, encompassing a departmental core courses, an area of concentration and related courses. It is a program designed to achieve distinction as a leader in public affairs, policy administration, education and research. It provides an appreciation for the broad range of issues-economic, institutional, normative and political that surrounds contemporary public affairs, policy and administration. The program includes course work and thesis at a reasonable time frame.

The BPS program is designed to educate students who can demonstrate, share and consume knowledge effectively in the academic setting with emphasis on theory, analysis evaluation and practice of public administration, affairs and policy. Graduates of BPA program are equipped to contribute and utilize significant information to the national and local government agencies.

Completion of the BPA program normally requires four years of course work including the thesis and practicum.

BACHELOR OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

Pursuant to the CHED MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 62 series of 2017 mandate to revise and update the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management program and to change the name to Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management the university complies with this transitory provisions of this CMO effective for the SY 2018-2019.

Aside from the CMO, the new curriculum also incorporated various inputs from the different stakeholders such as industry professionals, alumni, students, parents, government agencies, and members of the academic community. The curriculum is designed to prepare the students for leadership positions to manage operations and people in the rapidly expanding field of hospitality Industry. Students will take courses designed to match industry requirements and expectations. The program also introduces students to basic philosophies of the hospitality industry and gives a general understanding of the operational procedures that will allow graduates of the program to apply their knowledge to business, management, and professional development skills.

In addition to the formal program of instruction for its students, the program provides other educational opportunities to help meet its educational objectives. Activities such as work placements, skill assessment, seminar, workshop, skills competition, visits to places of interest, field trip, community extension activities, and membership to professional and social clubs. The different activities contributes to the professional, personal and social growth of our students. Furthermore, the Department strives to help its students become ethical, fair in their relations with other people, courteous, honest and to serve the industry from the heart.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY

The Bachelor of Science in Electronics Technology program offers opportunities for students to learn and apply the scientific knowledge and methods in modern technology to support electronics technology activities. Students are provided a focus on classroom instruction and hands-on

laboratory design and testing experiences. Moreover, the program prepares the students to become professionals, and be qualified for positions in the field of electronics technology such as electronic systems analysis and design, technical sales and service, and engineering operations and maintenance.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Community Development intends to produce/develop individuals to be competent development practitioners. The course will provide opportunity for the students to be equipped with skills in community organizing, planning, training and development, social mobilization and action research. Moreover, the course will develop capabilities of the students to accelerate their achievement in their respective goals through quality instruction, research, extension and production.

This curricular program intends to provide students with relevant learning experiences, creative activities and innovative processes those encourage rational, analytical and critical thinking pertaining to the understanding of community development process, issues and concerns. This program also seeks. Inculcate, and develop among students the values of integrity, respect, teamwork, innovativeness, and excellence. The program expects students to become dynamic and productive citizens that can contribute to the development of their community and country.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN DEVELOPMENTAL COMMUNICATION PROGRAM

The Bachelor of Science in Developmental Communication program (BSDC) is a four-year course designed to develop well rounded, ethical, analytical, innovative, value-oriented communicators for development. It focuses on how verbal and non-verbal messages are used to create meanings in various contexts using various media platforms. It

includes a broad range of subject matter ranging from communication, natural and social sciences and other technical courses such as food, technology, health and environment. The program serves as a training ground for the students to acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed in their employment as public and corporate communication, communication officers, communication researches/analysts, communication/ media planners and managers, program/project development officers, media practitioners, learning system designers, multimedia designers, and in the allied/related professions.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY

The Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology program offers opportunities for students to learn and apply the scientific knowledge and methods in modern technology to support automotive and electronics technology activities. Students are provided a focus on classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory activities and actual troubleshooting experiences in order to produce and develop highly qualified technicians and managers in the field of automotive technology.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FOOD TECHNOLOGY

Bachelor of Science in Food technology is a four-year degree program designed to develop professionals in food technology/ the program focuses on a mix of pure and applied science, engineering, business and entrepreneurial skills. It aims to produce professionals who have the capacity to apply the science and technology and related fields of study in post-harvest, handling, preparation, processing, packaging, storage, distribution and marketing of food to ensure food and nutrition security, quality, environmental sustainability and the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
