BukSU IT Faculty elected as PSITE Northern Mindanao Chapter officers

Faculty members from the Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Information Technology Department were elected as officers of the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Northern Mindanao Chapter during the Regional Conference on Information Technology Education (RCITE) and General Assembly 2026 held at the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in Iligan City last September 17-18, 2026.

Conducted as part of the PSITE Northern Mindanao Chapter General Assembly, the event recognized the leadership and commitment of IT educators in advancing information technology education and strengthening collaboration among academic institutions across the region.

The newly elected BukSU representatives are:

• Dr. Psyche T. Malabo – Vice President for External Affairs
• Mr. Louie Jay S. Labastida – Secretary
• Ms. Joan Marie M. Panes – Public Relations Officer
• Ms. Glaiza Mae A. Libe – Bukidnon Coordinator

The election also marks a leadership transition within the chapter. Dr. Sales G. Aribe Jr., (BukSU) who previously served as Vice President for External Affairs, and Mr. Louie Jay S. Labastida (BukSU), who previously served as Bukidnon Coordinator, turned over their respective chapter roles as part of the organization’s new set of officers. Labastida subsequently assumed the position of Secretary.

The RCITE and General Assembly 2026, themed “Educating Minds. Sustaining Lives. Leading with AI,” gathered researchers, educators, students, and IT professionals for research presentations, knowledge exchange, and discussions on emerging technologies and the future of information technology education.

Through their new leadership roles, the elected officers will contribute to the initiatives of the PSITE Northern Mindanao Chapter in supporting IT educators, fostering collaboration among academic institutions, and promoting innovation and excellence in computing education.
