Graduate programs faculty members upgrade skills for Open Distance and e-Learning

The Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) Office, through BukSU’s Information Unit (IU), spearheaded a hands-on instructional design and multimedia workshop at the BukSU Library Lawang on August 26, 2026, to strengthen the university’s flexible learning capabilities. Organized alongside the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL), the training focused on preparing graduate programs faculty members to create high-impact, engaging digital course materials for distance learners.

The day-long workshop aimed to elevate educators’ technical and creative expertise, equipping them to develop dynamic multimedia content through video production and structured instructional design.

According to the ODeL Office, the training responded to the growing demand for accessible, high-quality distance education by equipping graduate faculty with practical video production skills. The initiative specifically aims to bridge learning gaps for employed students and those residing in remote communities.

Technical sessions were spearheaded by BukSU Information Unit experts, with cinematographer Engelbert V. Cabunoc covering basic videography and graphic artist Jayson Tadayca facilitating the video editing module. The workshop culminated in an interactive hands-on segment where participants produced and screened their own media content.

Transitioning from traditional classrooms to asynchronous and hybrid distance modalities is essential for democratizing access to learning. Specialized, well-designed video content and structured multimedia resources bridge geographical and socioeconomic divides, ensuring inclusive, high-engagement, and self-paced learning for all. By equipping faculty with practical video production and editing skills, BukSU actively advances the global commitment to equitable, lifelong education while maintaining academic rigor and national standards.
