BukSU Plants 102 Trees to Mark 102 Years of Growth

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) celebrated Arbor Day and its 102nd founding anniversary through the “102 Trees for 102 Years” tree-planting activity held simultaneously across its campuses on June 25, 2026.

A total of 102 Balitbitan (Cynometra ramiflora) trees were planted across the university system, with six planted at the main campus and the remaining seedlings distributed among BukSU’s 16 satellite campuses.

“The indigenous species was chosen to symbolize resilience and enduring growth,” Chief Administrative Officer for the Administrative Services Division Rosanna S. Generato said.

The initiative was designed to honor BukSU’s legacy while promoting environmental stewardship. “We choose to plant 102 trees because each tree represents one year of BukSU’s 102-year legacy,” she said, adding that the activity aims to leave a living legacy for future generations.

The activity was led by the BukSU Board of Regents with Generato: BukSU Faculty Association President Amber A. Paguray; Vice Presidents Dante S. Victoria Jr., Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, Ph.D. represented by a staff, Carina Joane V. Barroso, Ph.D. represented by a staff, Lincoln V. Tan, Ph.D.; BukSU NTEA President Ms. Chandrani Yves E. Estrada, and CAO-Finance Katheryn Lou P. Bandas.
