Driven by her passion for Jiu-Jitsu, Martinez rose to earn gold and silver on the international stage with the guidance of her coach.
Her coach saw her potential even in moments of self-doubt, inspired her to take training more seriously, and to make the most of the opportunity. This belief motivated her to train harder and prove that she is capable of more.
“I joined Jiu-Jitsu because I genuinely enjoyed it, and it makes me feel alive every time I train. At the same time, I wanted to understand myself better, especially in moments when I feel pressured. It puts me in situations where I can’t pretend, I have to stay calm, think, and keep going,” Ms. Martinez said. (Jackie Lou C. Corbita/ SLS Faculty)
