BukSU Hosts DIGI-MC 2025 to Advance Digital Governance and Innovation in Bukidnon

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) is taking a central role in advancing digital governance and innovation in Bukidnon as it hosts the first Digital Malaybalay City (DIGI-MC) 2025 conference from October 29 to 31 at its main campus.

With the theme “Innovating Together: From Local Strengths to Global Impact,” the three-day event brings together government officials, private technology partners, and academic institutions to explore digital solutions for governance, education, and community development.

BukSU Vice President for Administration and Finance Dante S. Victoria Jr. said the university’s participation forms part of its ongoing efforts toward innovation and digital transformation.

“Through DIGI-MC, we aim to strengthen communication, transparency, and connectivity—values that are essential in our service to our public and the academic community,” said Victoria. 

As part of the event, BukSU’s College of Technologies (COT) will showcase its academic programs and innovations that demonstrate the application of technology in addressing community needs.

“We aim to showcase technologies that can help our farmers and indigenous peoples,” said COT Dean, Dr. Marilou Espina. “This aligns with BukSU’s new program on Entertainment and Multimedia, Computing, Animation, and Technology, which also highlights innovations that preserve our cultural heritage. There are many ways to support our farmers and IP communities, and through this, we hope to feature solutions that truly make a difference.”

Malaybalay City Economic Enterprise Development and Management Office Head Romeo R. Lapeciros Jr. said the partnership with BukSU allows the city to showcase its progress as a center of innovation and technology adoption in governance.

“It is now the time to showcase what we have for Malaybalay, as we are building a reputation as a center of innovation and technology adoption in good governance. Many activities and services are being implemented by the city and the academic sector, demonstrating that the city is becoming a model for digital governance not only in the province but also in the entire region,” said Lapeciros.

According to Lapeciros, the local government of Malaybalay City has already embraced digitization through programs such as online bidding and procurement systems, digital document tracking, eBOSS transactions, and LED information displays. During the event, the city government will also distribute Starlink units to all 46 barangays to enhance local connectivity.

DIGI-MC 2025 will include learning sessions and workshops designed to build digital skills among employees, freelancers, students, and entrepreneurs. Topics will cover ICT tools, freelancing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The event will also feature a reverse pitching competition for students and professionals. (Dr. Joanna Ruth S.
