Bukidnon State University (BukSU) has formalized a partnership with Cebu City-based Damsel Studios to provide students with industry experience in animation and multimedia.
The collaboration includes on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities for students in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing – Major in Digital Animation Technology programs.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed on January 27, 2025, outlining commitments from both BukSU and Damsel Studios to integrate practical training into the academic curriculum.
According to College of Technologies (COT) Dean Marilou Espina, the agreement expands internship opportunities and connects students with industry practices.
“This partnership marks a significant step in expanding the university’s internship program in providing students with hands-on experience in the creative and media industries. The MOA outlines the commitment of both parties to enhance the quality of education through industry-driven opportunities, supporting the growth of future professionals in the field,” said Espina.
Meanwhile, COT students commenced their OTJ programs with other animation studios. On January 22, students began training at MAD Studios, and another group started at Tuldok Animation Studios on January 24.
Espina said the university continues to develop industry collaborations to give students experience with industry tools, trends, and work environments.
“With these collaborations, Bukidnon State University reinforces its role in preparing the next generation of skilled professionals in the fields of animation, media, and digital arts,” she added. (Raul D. Lecaros, COT College Secretary)
