The Bukidnon State University campus came alive with colors of the 17 universal goals or the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as students, faculty, and staff gathered at the front lawn of the BukSU Administration Building to commemorate the SDGs and witness the hoisting of the SDG flag on September 20, 2024.
A flag is hoisted or raised to commemorate important events and can unite people under a common identity and purpose. For BukSU, is its ongoing commitment to sustainability and addressing climate change.
The university took the initiative by bringing the students and personnel together to renew a promise.
“Through this event, we renew our promise to actively advance the SDGs, particularly those most relevant to our mission — SDG 4- Quality Education, SDG 13-Climate Action, and SDG 15-Life on Land,” Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Dante S. Victoria, Jr. emphasized in his remarks.
“As part of our recently achieved ISO 9001: 2015 recertification, which now embeds climate change considerations into our quality management system, BukSU is committed to continually innovating and leading by example in mitigating the impacts of environmental challenges. This ensures that our processes not only meet the highest standards of quality but also contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future,” VP Victoria Jr. added.
BukSU’s role is to become one of the world’s most sustainable universities by highlighting the ongoing integration of sustainability into every facet of university life from campus operations to academic programs and community outreach. (BukSU-Information Unit)
