BukSU Joins the IEG 2024 TOT cum Annual Meeting

Institutes of Environmental Governance (IEG) from across the Philippines converged at Central Luzon State University, Munoz City, Nueva Ecija, from February 19 to 22, 2024, for the Annual Meeting and Training of Trainers (TOT). Among the distinguished attendees were representatives from Bukidnon State University (BukSU), adding their valuable perspectives to the discussions. Dr. Jiemalyn B. Paulican, the Extension Unit Director, and Ms. Joan M. Recente, the Research Unit Director, represented BukSU. Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, BukSU President, attended the conference, enriching it with insightful inputs.

The event, organized by Tanggol Kalikasan in collaboration with other partner organizations, was a crucial platform for sharing expertise and advancing environmental governance practices. The agenda featured a lineup of esteemed speakers who delved into pertinent topics essential for refining modules, including enhancing the natural resource management module utilized by the 28 IEGs nationwide.

IEG TOT participants engaged in the duration of the discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions. Topics presented during the event varied from sustainable development practices to biodiversity conservation strategies, mirroring the intricacies of the nature of environmental governance. Exchange discussions were facilitated to learning visits to national centers and project demonstration sites in the Science City of Muńoz, Nueva Ecija. These visits provided participants with practical insights into on-the-ground initiatives and innovative environmental management and conservation approaches. The participation of BukSU further enriched the discourse, as their representatives actively contributed their expertise and insights to the deliberations. Dr. Joy Mirasol’s virtual presence underscored BukSU’s commitment to advancing environmental stewardship and sustainability, resonating with the overarching goals of the gathering.
