BukSU posts highest 2026 UI GreenMetric Scores in Transportation, Waste Management

Bukidnon State University recorded its highest 2026 UI GreenMetric scores in Transportation, Waste Management, and Energy and Climate Change.

The university received 1,500 points, 1,350 points, and 1,300 points in the three categories, respectively.

BukSU scored 7,700 points overall in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, placing 330th worldwide and sixth in the Philippines. It ranked 190th in Asia, which was 10 places higher than its position in the previous assessment.

The university’s 2026 global ranking improved by 28 places from 358th in 2025. Its Philippine ranking also moved up by one place from seventh.

The 2026 assessment covered seven categories: Transportation, Waste Management, Energy and Climate Change, Governance and Digitalization, Education, Water, and Setting and Infrastructure.

BukSU received 1,037.5 points for Governance and Digitalization, 937.5 points for Education, 850 points for Water, and 725 points for Setting and Infrastructure.

Governance and Digitalization was introduced as a new pillar in the 2026 assessment. The category covers the university’s use of governance systems and digitalization in its operations.

BukSU’s work in this area is guided by the Smart BukSU Hexa-Helix Framework of University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol.

“This achievement reflects the commitment of the entire BukSU community,” said Mirasol. “When these practices become part of our daily operations, they become part of who we are. This recognition shows what we can achieve when everyone does their part as we continue building a smarter, greener, and more future-ready BukSU.”

BukSU’s total score increased by 247.5 points from 7,452.5 points in 2025 to 7,700 points in 2026.

The university retained its position as the highest-ranked university in Mindanao for the third consecutive year. BukSU has held that position in the UI GreenMetric rankings since 2024.
