A total of 195 Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students and faculty members of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) participated in the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) ACHIEVE Micro-Credentials Program on September 14, 2026, held at the university’s computer laboratories.
According to CHED, the CHED A.C.H.I.E.V.E. Reform Architecture provides the strategic structure through which the CHED advances the transformation of Philippine higher education toward 2030 and beyond.
“At the sector level, the A.C.H.I.E.V.E. Agenda defines key transformation priorities for Philippine higher education. These priorities promote expanded lifelong learning opportunities, stronger alignment between higher education and national human capital development, and research and innovation responsive to the Sustainable Development Goals,” CHED posted.
The initiative was conducted as part of the Handog ng Pangulo Caravan, a government outreach program designed to deliver public services including education, health, livelihood, and employment directly to local communities.
Through the program, participants accessed short online courses free of charge via the United Micro-Credentials Course Online Platform. The initiative enables students to earn industry-relevant skills and specialized competencies to complement their formal degree programs.
IT faculty members provided technical support and academic guidance in the computer laboratories throughout the session.
CHED’s micro-credentials initiative aims to foster flexible learning pathways, skill development, and lifelong learning in higher education.
Upon completing course requirements, participants receive electronic certificates and micro-credential badges to showcase verified technical skills to future employers. (Louie Jay Labastida/ IT Department Faculty)
