
Bukidnon State University (BukSU), in partnership with the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), co-hosted the Lambigit 2026: 3rd Regional Research and Innovation Summit on April 28–30, 2026, in Cagayan de Oro City.
Anchored on the theme, “From Research to Real-World Solutions: Powering Northern Mindanao’s Innovation Ecosystem,” the summit convened researchers, innovators, and industry leaders to strengthen collaboration and transform ideas into impactful solutions.
Among those present were Engr. Ruel Banal, OIC-Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Region 10; Assistant Regional Director Almer Massilones of the Department of Trade and Industry; Ambrosio Cultura II; Engr. Alex Maureal, USTP Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Extension; BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol; and Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations (VPREI) Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso.
Raven Duran, the summit keynote speaker, challenged participants to bridge the gap between research and real-world application, emphasizing the role of technology and innovation in driving societal impact.
Throughout the three-day event, faculty experts from BukSU performed as evaluators for oral and poster presentations: Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, Dr. Manuel Chad G. Agurob, Dr. Derren N. Gaylo, Dr. Helen P. Garcia, and Dr. Marilou O. Espina.
Meanwhile, BukSU researchers demonstrated excellence and innovation through their presentations, including Dr. Regina B. Dumdumaya, Dr. Madelaine S. Dumandan, Dr. Marichu B. Montecillo, Dr. Alwielland Q. Bello, Dr. Ronald A. Francisco, Ms. Diomelin B. Rojas, Dr. Lolita Dulay, Mr. Rodulfo S. Oco Jr., and Mr. Ronnel Gayon.
Parallel sessions were managed by Dr. Mariz Rochelle C. Sedon, Ms. Jan Isobel Hidalgo, and Dr. Nestor Penalver.
BukSU faculty members earned recognition for their outstanding research contributions.
Dr. Madelaine S. Dumandan secured 2nd Place under Strand 4: Humanities and Social Innovation, while Dr. Alwielland Q. Bello garnered 3rd Place in Track 2: Education and Sciences.
According to the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations, the Lambigit 2026 Summit stands as a testament to the power of collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, and industry partners. By fostering knowledge exchange and innovation, the event continues to pave the way for transformative solutions that address real-world challenges and strengthen Northern Mindanao’s research and innovation ecosystem.
