BukSU College of Education Students Begin International Teaching Internship in Indonesia

Bukidnon State University welcomed by the Universiti Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) in Indonesia.

Nine senior pre-service teachers from Bukidnon State University (BukSU) College of Education (COE) began the international teaching journey on April 12, 2026, for a four-week immersion at Universiti Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) in Indonesia.

The immersion is designed to transform future educators into global professionals.

The students are immersed in the Indonesian educational system through a structured program that includes classroom observations, active lesson delivery, and academic collaboration. Beyond their teaching duties, the students will serve as cultural ambassadors by showcasing Filipino dishes during the International Cuisine Day.

To ensure the highest standards of instruction and support, Jesse James G. Gellor, BukSU COE faculty visiting professor, will oversee the group’s integration into local schools and adherence to international teaching standards.

Gellor is expected to share research and conduct lectures and workshops for both UMP faculty and students, as well as their network of partner schools.

According to the International Affairs and Linkages Unit (IALU), the knowledge exchange strengthens the academic ties between BukSU and UMP, positioning BukSU’s faculty as thought leaders in the Southeast Asian educational landscape

The delegates will return to the Philippines in mid-May. (Rozanne Tuesday Flores/ Chair, IALU Student Mobility Program)
