
Bukidnon State University (BukSU) alumna Hizen Novi Melendez, a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology in the College of Technologies, was declared 1st Runner-Up in the 18+ Women’s Doubles Open division at the Philippine Pickleball League (PPL) Luzon Open 2026.
The PPL Luzon Open was held on January 25–26, 2026, in Kawit, Cavite, making it one of the largest pickleball competitions in the country, with divisions for various age groups and skill levels.
Melendez’s performance in this major event highlights her competitive drive and skill, reflecting the discipline and dedication fostered during her studies at BukSU.
Looking ahead, Melendez is set to compete at the upcoming WPC APO (Asia Pickleball Open) Thailand tournament on March 11–15, 2026. This international event offered her a chance to further elevate her game and represent BukSU and the Philippines on a broader stage.
