Economics Team: Teaching, Learning, and Immersing in Indonesia’s Economic Landscape

The CAS–Economics delegation hit the ground running with a vibrant meet-and-greet session and research dissemination activities that opened doors for deeper academic conversations with UKSW faculty and students.

One of the highlights was Dr. Cleopas Bette Jacutin’s lecture on teaching strategies in Philippine Higher Education Institutions, attended by faculty members and students.

The students were equally immersed in:

  • attending Economics and Business classes,
  • participating actively in discussions, and
  • taking part in an industry immersion that allowed them to see Indonesia’s business environment firsthand.

For the CON delegation, the culminating week was a powerful blend of academic sharing and hands-on community health experience.

Global lecturer Mr. Giovanni Jan Sanchez delivered an insightful lecture on issues and trends in community nursing and presented BukSU’s extension initiatives—sparking inspiration and new possibilities for cross-country collaboration.

The students, meanwhile, stepped right into the heart of Indonesian community health through:

  • classroom participation,
  • an actual site visit to Chebongan Puskesmas (Community Health Center),
  • community assessment observations in Jurang Gunting Village,
  • a visit to Dr. Ario Wirawan Lung Hospital,
  • a curriculum review and dialogue with UKSW’s Faculty of Health Sciences,
  • and a hands-on clinical skills exchange with Indonesian nursing students.

The culmination also featured a cultural tour of Borobudur Temple in Magelang, offering a meaningful cultural immersion for the entire delegation.

The weeklong engagement marks a significant milestone in enhancing BukSU’s internationalization efforts and deepening its partnership with UKSW.
