Bukidnon State University (BukSU) demonstrated its leadership in innovation and sustainability, earning a Special Citation from the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) during the 2025 Productivity Challenge themed “Paper-less: 1 Million Sheets Saved.”
The recognition highlighted BukSU’s continued commitment to green practices and efficient public service delivery through the adoption of paperless systems across its offices.
The official recognition ceremony was held on November 11, 2025, at the Luxent Hotel in Diliman, Quezon City, as part of DAP’s national event, “Powering Productivity: Unlocking Ideas, Enabling Innovation.”
Representing BukSU on behalf of University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol and College of Nursing Dean Dr. Ma. Algerica T. Cuenco were Dr. Zenas B. Paloma and Mr. Lloyd Gonzales.
BukSU’s recognition was anchored on two flagship innovations that exemplify the institution’s proactive shift toward digital transformation and sustainability. These include the Smart Memo: BukSU’s Green Print for Paperless Sustainability submitted by the Office of the President, and the Digital Submission of Faculty Teaching Portfolios, Case Studies, and Learning Feedback Diaries by the College of Nursing. The Smart Memo initiative streamlines internal communication processes, reducing physical document use and promoting eco-friendly governance, while the College of Nursing’s digital submission system enables efficient academic documentation and evaluation with minimal paper consumption.
According to DAP, these innovative efforts contributed to BukSU’s selection for the Special Citation in this year’s Productivity Challenge. “The recognition not only celebrates the University’s institutional achievement but also underscores its strategic integration of technology, sustainability, and productivity in its operations.”
The event emphasized a collective vision for a more innovative, sustainable, and citizen-centered public sector.
Alongside the awarding of recognitions, DAP launched the upcoming 2026 Productivity Challenge titled “MoneyWise: 1 Billion Pesos Saved,” which encourages government agencies and academic institutions to pursue financial prudence and fiscal efficiency. BukSU’s achievement serves as an inspiration to the University community to continue embracing digital transformation and sustainability. Through initiatives that champion environmental responsibility and operational efficiency, BukSU reaffirms its unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and responsible governance.
