Sixteen faculty members of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) completed graduate and postgraduate studies as recipients of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) and the Commission on Higher Education-Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (CHED-SIKAP).
They were recognized during a ceremony on October 22, 2025, at the Quality Assurance Office Conference Room, BukSU Main campus. The event, titled “Faculty in Focus: Recognizing Scholarly Excellence,” was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) to acknowledge the academic accomplishments of the FDP and CHED-SIKAP completers.
According to the OVPAA, the annual recognition serves as a venue to honor faculty members for their dedication and scholarly contributions to the university.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela said the honorees’ academic journeys required determination and courage to pursue studies beyond their comfort zones.

She likened their academic journey to a “hero’s quest, one that demanded courage to leave their comfort zones, face daunting challenges, and emerge transformed, with new knowledge and perspectives to share with the University and the wider community.”
University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol commended the scholars for investing their intellect, time, and passion in their pursuit of advanced studies and encouraged them to channel their expertise toward nation-building.

“Your perseverance and dedication exemplify the spirit of a Smart and Transformative BukSU, a university that continually learns, creates, and leads for the good of all,” said Mirasol.
During the ceremony, the faculty members received Certificates of Recognition for completing their programs and Certificates of Research Utilization for integrating their research findings into academic programs and institutional policy development.
The program also included research presentations from the honorees, covering various fields such as education, technology, social sciences, language studies, and business.

Human Resource and Development Unit Director Dr. Rea Rita R. Muegue urged the faculty to continue engaging in collaborative research and leadership.
“As we close this chapter of recognition, let us open the next chapter of sustained collaboration,” Muegue said, inspiring the faculty to continue advancing knowledge and addressing local and global challenges. (Katherine B. Akut/FDP Focal Person, Faculty Language and Letters Department)
