Bukidnon State University (BukSU), through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) has conducted a comprehensive Institutional Program Assessment as part of the university’s preparations for higher recognition across its select twenty (20) program offerings for potential as a Center of Excellence (COE), held at COT Smart Classroom, 3rd Floor, College of Public Administration and Governance Building, on September 24, 2025.
The assessment is directly aligned with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 10, s. 2025, which sets standards for academic quality.
“Today’s Institutional Program Assessment is a very important step for Bukidnon State University as we prepare our programs for higher recognition and possible designation as Centers of Excellence,” remarked by University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, as read by Dr. Iris April Ramirez, Quality Assurance Unit Head. “This activity allows us to honestly review our compliance with policies and standards and ensure that our programs continue to meet national and global expectations.”

The assessment focused on academic programs with a Certificate of Program Compliance and those accredited at Level II and above by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
BukSU is preparing to meet the evaluation criteria for COE recognition: Innovative Culture, Culture of Research & Creativity, International Outlook, Staff Development Tradition, Learner & Graduate Quality, and Service Orientation.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela walked through the content of the CMO to the academic leaders of the university, comprising the college deans and the department heads.

Dr. Marlie Joy Sigod, Department Head of the Affairs Management Staff, presented the program assessment tool to be used.

“Through this exercise, we are preparing ourselves to meet the rigorous standards set for Center of Excellence recognition,” she added. “I thank the OVPAA, the Quality Assurance Unit, and all our academic leaders and faculty for your commitment to this endeavor. May this assessment strengthen our collective resolve to pursue excellence, not only for compliance but more importantly, to better serve our students and communities.” (BukSU – Information Unit)
