Bukidnon State University (BukSU), through its Motor Pool in collaboration with the Automotive Technology (AT) Department, conducted an in-house training on Vehicle Preventive Maintenance and Basic Diagnosis and Repair of Vehicles on August 16, 2025, at the AT Department building.
The program was designed for university mechanic drivers with the primary goal of enhancing their technical skills, knowledge, and practical competency in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of service vehicles.
Dr. Rene M. Chavez, Department Head and expert in automotive technology, assisted by Mr. Rodulfo S. Oco Jr. and Mr. Raymund T. Agbu, facilitated the training.

Dr. Chavez provided participants with theoretical inputs and practical demonstrations.
“These trainings helped participants gain that preventive maintenance extends a vehicle’s lifespan, minimizing costly repairs and ensuring smooth operations,” Dr. Chavez said.
“It also allowed mechanic drivers to engage through discussions, experience-sharing, and hands-on activities actively,” he added.
The session strongly emphasized the importance of preventive maintenance as a proactive measure to avoid sudden vehicle breakdowns, reduce operational expenses, and uphold road safety for both drivers and passengers. (Nicolas S. Carisosa Jr., Automotive Tech. Faculty Member)
