Bukidnon State University continued to solidify its reputation for excellence after its first surveillance audit for ISO 9001:2015 held on August 14-15, 2025, at two of its campuses: the main campus and the annex campus (EduHub), conducted by SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc.
The two-day audit was designed to verify the university’s ongoing commitment to international quality standards, not just on paper but in practice.
“We come here to confirm BukSU’s management system set standards still conform to all the requirements of the audit standard(s), and to verify actions taken from the previous findings,” Lead Auditor Mr. Gerard D. Cayetano shared during the opening program.

Along with Mr. Cayetano, Ms. Merian J. Domingo reviewed the organizational context, human resource management, and financial management. Also, the auditors reviewed programs at the select undergraduate and graduate levels, including the student services and facilities.

The audit also included a review of the control of documented information, internal audits, procurement, and management review.
University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol addressed the university community and the auditors, highlighting the institution’s dedication to its students and stakeholders. The audit, she noted, was a checkpoint in the university’s journey of continuous improvement.

“This audit is our assurance to our stakeholders, personnel, alumni, partners, and the public that BukSU is not only meeting standards but is constantly striving to go beyond them. ISO 9001:2015 is a discipline,” said Mirasol. “This surveillance audit is our chance to affirm that our systems are evolving, improving, and adapting to the needs of our academic community. To our auditors, we welcome your observations and recommendations. We see them not as criticisms but as opportunities and pathways that will help us grow stronger and better,” she added.
SOCOTEC, a third-party certification body, has reviewed Bukidnon State University’s quality management system (QMS) and found that it meets all the strict requirements outlined in the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
“SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. acknowledges the client organization’s successful implementation of the requirements, specified in the ISO 9001:2015 standard, based on the results of the external audit. Therefore, Bukidnon State University is recommended for the continued maintenance of its ISO 9001:2015 certification. Congratulations!” Mr. Cayetano concluded during the closing program.
“BukSU’s journey with Quality Management System began in 2015. The university’s initial ISO certification was officially granted on August 30, 2017, under the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Following this, the university transitioned to the more recent ISO 9001:2015 version in the year 2018, making BukSU the first state university and college (SUC) in Mindanao to receive the 9001:2015 certification,” the BukSU Quality Assurance Office shared.
