Bukidnon State University–Lantapan Campus marked its first foundation anniversary on Aug. 12, 2025, with activities recognizing the partnership between the university and local officials in expanding access to higher education in the municipality.
The event began with a motorcade followed by a tree-planting activity. “These activities symbolized the deep roots and growth of BukSU within the community, setting a tone of unity, pride, and gratitude for the day,” said Lantapan Campus Head, Dr. Shella Amor C. Monsanto.

Situated in Babahagon, Barangay Poblacion, the 2-hectare campus was established in 2024 with support from the local government of Lantapan and the Philippine Senate. The campus offers a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management program and is the newest among BukSU’s 16 campuses in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental.

Plaques of recognition were presented to the BukSU technical working group and the local government of Lantapan for their roles in establishing the campus. Pioneering faculty members and staff were also recognized.
Provincial officials in attendance included Atty. Jam Candice R. Altomera, representing Governor Rogelio Neil Roque; Vice Governor Clive D. Quiño; and 2nd District Board Members Marlon B. Dinlayan and Bobby Jay Dinlayan. All expressed their support for the continued development of the campus.
The local government was represented by Atty. Aina Christine L. Tan on behalf of Mayor Ricky James D. Balansag. Municipal Vice Mayor Ernie R. Devibar delivered a message on the importance of education in community transformation.
From the university administration, President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol was represented by Dr. Albert A. Villanca, director for satellite campuses. Also present were Dr. Wilfredo A. Martinez, head of administrative services for satellite campuses; Ms. Mary Celine Alsola, budget officer; and Ms. Regie Cabañelez-Medidas, representing the late former president Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez.

“Together with our team, we have tirelessly steered BukSU Lantapan in its foundational journey, laying strong foundations for future success,” Monsanto said.
The celebration concluded with the signing of the commitment wall and the opening of the campus milestone exhibit, which chronicled the campus’s beginnings and first year. (Dr. Shella Amor C. Monsanto/Campus Head, BukSU Lantapan)
