To help students start their exam day with an extra boost, the Student Body Organization (SBO) of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Libona Campus provided free coffee and bread on April 29, 2025.
According to SBO adviser Mr. Abe Angelo B. Doria, the effort aimed to support students’ well-being during a period of heightened academic activity.
“Providing free coffee and bread is a small way to acknowledge the efforts and sacrifices our students make in preparing for their examinations,” said Doria. “This gesture ensures students start their day with nourishment, helping them stay focused and energized during their exams.”
Students who received the coffee and bread shared how the initiative helped them prepare for the day. Mary Dayne B. Labis, a first-year BSBA student, said she had skipped breakfast to arrive on time for her exam.
“Dako akong pasalamat kay wala pa gyud koy pamahaw kay sayo kaayo ko naglakaw para dili ma late sa exam (I’m deeply grateful because I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet – I left very early to avoid being late for the exam),” said Labis.
Meanwhile, Janjan Lagusan, a third-year BPA student, said the coffee and bread offered both motivation and support during exam week.
“Isip isa sa mga magtutungha, akong pasalamat sa inisyatibo sa SBO alang sa paghatag ug libreng kape ug pan arun makahatag ug dugang nga kadasig ug supporta sa panahon sa examinasyon. Salamat ug God Bless BukSU Libona (As a student, I’m thankful for the SBO’s initiative in providing free coffee and bread to give us extra motivation and support during exams. Thank you, and God bless BukSU Libona),” said Lagusan.
BukSU Libona Campus head, Mr. Neal Bryan L. Rendal, said the activity is part of the university’s approach to student services, which includes addressing the basic needs of learners.
“Initiatives like food assistance are part of a wider strategy to ensure that students’ basic needs are met, helping to create an environment where they can thrive academically and emotionally,” said Rendal.
“By offering free refreshments during a stressful period, the SBO not only supports students’ well-being but also strengthens the sense of community on campus,” Rendal added. (Neal Bryan L. Rendal, BukSU Libona Campus Head)
