Bukidnon State University-Alubijid Campus launched its first job fair aimed at alumni and local job seekers on April 23, 2025.
Held under the theme “Linking Skills to Success,” the event was organized in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Alubijid local government.
Twenty-one companies participated, offering job openings in manufacturing, retail, human resources, and other sectors. Job seekers from Alubijid and nearby municipalities attended the event, with several applicants receiving immediate offers through the “Hired-on-the-spot (HOTS)” mechanism.
Anna Grace F. Caseres, Guidance Designate at BukSU-Alubijid, said the job fair gave candidates access to a range of employment opportunities and direct engagement with hiring companies.
“This job fair served as a platform for job seekers across the western part of Misamis Oriental to connect with 21 partner companies,” said Caseres. “The participating employers saw the potential of our local job seekers and provided them with meaningful opportunities to pursue their careers.”
In addition to private sector recruiters, government agencies including the Social Security System (SSS), PAG-IBIG Fund, and PhilHealth were present to assist attendees with membership and employment requirements.
Mary Claire P. Zalsos from the Department of Migrant Workers said job fairs provide access to both local and overseas employment, describing the event as a practical way to address joblessness.
“Job fairs are vital in linking individuals to both local and overseas employment. It is also proactive response to unemployment,” said Zalsos.
Caseres added that the university is considering organizing a similar event next year to accommodate growing interest from both applicants and participating employers. (Angelica Aldovino, BukSU Alubijid Faculty Member)
