
How can we prepare our students for the future?
The State Universities and Colleges Teacher Educators Association (SUCTEA) explored this question and more during the International Research Conference and Paper Presentation held at Bukidnon State University (BukSU) on November 21-23, 2024.
BukSU accommodated delegates of educators, researchers, and instructional design experts from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to share knowledge and discuss Futures Thinking pedagogies as solutions to the pressing challenges of education in the country.
This year’s theme, “Transcending Teaching and Learning Towards Futures Thinking,” aimed to push the boundaries of education and explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
A diverse range of research paper presentations for the three-day conference covered topics on Pedagogies in various fields with implications for Teacher Education; Socio-Emotional Learning Practices; Technology integration in teaching and learning; and Perspectives of Futures Thinking in research and extension endeavors.
Experts took time for plenary talks including Dr. Roger Y. Chao, Jr., Dr. Custer C. Deocares, Dr. Raul F. Muyong, and Dr. Edizon A. Fermin shared their insights on education & sustainable development and technology integration.
The plenary sessions focused on Exploring the potential of technology, especially AI, to transform teaching and learning; discussing the challenges and opportunities in preparing teachers for the future, including faculty development and the evolving role of educators; and highlighting the importance of combining multiple skills and knowledge areas to enhance teaching and learning.
SUCTEA, a professional organization dedicated to improving the quality of teacher education, is committed to fostering collaboration and innovation among educators.
