Faculty members, staff, and students of Bukidnon State University Alubijid Campus participated in a mental health workshop on October 23, 2024, aimed at fostering a more supportive and dynamic learning environment.
The event, themed “Empowering Education: Cultivating Self-Awareness, Growth Mindset, and Effective Time Management Strategies,” highlighted the important role of mental well-being in education.
“Investing in the well-being and professional development of faculty and staff is an investment in the future of education. This workshop will empower them to be the best versions of themselves, leading to a more positive, productive, and successful educational experience for everyone,” said Campus Head Dr. Cheryll M. Sabaldana.
Guest speaker Dr. Ralph Vendel E. Musni, Head of the Guidance Services Unit of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), emphasized that self-reflection, goal setting, and continuous learning are essential for personal growth.
His words encouraged participants to view obstacles as opportunities for personal development.
“Embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, and believe in your capacity to grow,” he said.
The participants engaged in diverse activities, including interactive sessions on mindfulness techniques, self-awareness strategies, and time management skills.
One student noted, “By using the Eisenhower Matrix—Do, Decide, Delegate, Delete—I can determine what to prioritize and what to set aside.”
The workshop aligned with the objectives of RA 11036 otherwise known as the Mental Health Act of the Philippines. It aimed to enhance participants’ self-awareness, resilience, and time management skills. (Angelica Aldovino, BukSU Alubijid faculty member)
