Bukidnon State University (BukSU) has expanded its presence in the province of Bukidnon with the inauguration of its 16th satellite campus in the municipality of Lantapan on August 12, 2024.
The campus offers a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management as its flagship program, with an initial enrollment of 150 students for the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025.

“This program aligns perfectly with the municipality’s rich heritage and natural beauty, and we are confident that our graduates will be instrumental in propelling Lantapan’s tourism industry to greater heights,” said BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol.
Campus Head Dr. Sheila Amor C. Monsanto emphasized a focus on holistic education that integrates academic learning with practical experiences to prepare Tourism students for future challenges. “I also believe that education extends beyond the classroom. We aim to engage with the local community through various outreach programs and partnerships that enhance learning and promote cultural heritage,” Monsanto added.
Situated in Babahagon, Barangay Poblacion, the 2-hectare campus was established with support from the local government of Lantapan, which allocated Php 3.5 million, and an additional Php 25 million in infrastructure support from Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.
Currently, the campus features two buildings: a three-story Academic Building with eight classrooms and a one-story building designated as a laboratory. Lantapan Mayor Ernie Devibar stated that the campus has sufficient space for additional buildings in the future.
“This campus is more than just a building; it is a symbol of hope, opportunity, and empowerment, particularly for our indigents and indigenous Talaanding brothers and sisters who hail from far-flung areas of our municipality,” said Dr. Albert A. Villanca, Director for Satellite Campuses.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Lantapan Vice Mayor Ricky James Balansag and Mr. Jim Chavez, representing Senator Zubiri. (BukSU-Information Unit)
