45 students of Quezon Satellite Campus receive financial assistance for SY 2022-2023

MALAYBALAY CITY – Fourty-five students from the Quezon Satellite Campus have received financial assistance from the government for the school year 2022-2023 under the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Program and the Commission on Higher Education Tulong-Dunong Program (CHED TDP) on February 3, 2023.

The 45 students, majority of whom are fourth-year students, received the TES fund at the BukSU administration office in Quezon.

Two graduating students, Ms Riberlyn B. Japson and Mr. Aljon I. Densing, said this is their seventh time to receive the subsidy since they have been grantees since they were in first-year college.

Other students also shared they have utilized the cash assistance to purchase things needed for their online classes.

Ms Jeniffer L. Banhaw, Ms Jenie Mae D. Estroga, Mr. Dexter V. Divino, Mr. Aldren R. Supatan, and Mr. Jimboy C. Caballero said they have purchased mobile phones and a mobile data subscription.

There are also grantees who have set aside money for some non-school expenses. Ms Riberlyn B. Japson, Ms Ghrielyn Zol Teves, and Mr Anecito Z. Estañero Jr. mentioned that they have used their residual funds to invest in a small business so they could begin earning a living.

Mr. Dave Ugpo and Mr. Aljon I. Densing, on the other hand, kept the cash for future educational expenses.

Ms Jenie Mae D. Estroga, Ms Gracelyn P. Alferez, and Mr. Aldren R. Supatan said that as graduating students, academic requirements are more challenging, but due to the program, students will be able to focus more on their studies than financial problems.

The grantees have ensured that the financial assistance they have received will be used to support their academic endeavors during the final semester. They also expressed their gratitude to the CHED for the assistance and said that, soon, they will be seeing competitive professionals.

CHED-TDP aimed to provide financial assistance to qualified and deserving students. This is intended for the ongoing grantees and new applicants who are enrolled or will enroll in CHED-recognized programs of Private Higher Education (Private HEIs) or State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)/ Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) with Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC).

The Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) is a grant-in- aid program of RA 10931, also known as Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, that assists eligible underprivileged Filipino students with their tertiary education costs. Costs may include the leasing or buying of a computer, books and materials, transportation, lodging and board expenses. (Ms Mia Jane B. Montederamos/Quezon Satellite Campus).
