BukSU dominates in ASEAN STARS GALA Competition

MALAYBALAY CITY – Bukidnon State University dominated in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations STARS (Sustainable, Transcultural, and Advanced Regional Society) Gala Competition securing five 1st place awards during the awarding ceremony held in a hybrid format in the Tarlac Agricultural University AgriTourism Function Hall and via online on January 23, 2023.

BukSU was announced as first placers in the ASEAN Digital Photography, ASEAN Music, ASEAN Cuisine, ASEAN Fashion Female Category, and ASEAN Dances Competition. The actual competition happened on January 5-7, 2023.

The ASEAN Languages and Edutourism Summit (ALES) have brought 16 guest lecturers from Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) and nine partner HEIs from the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia.

The said event was an initiative of TAU in cooperation with Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, Kerala Technological University, Universitas Pancasakti Tegal, World Citi College-Aeronautical and Technological College, Universidad de Dagupan, University of Antique, Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology, and Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology.

Dr. Max P. Guillermo, President of Tarlac Agricultural University said in his welcome remarks that he hoped to continue and initiate more activities like this.

“We are confident that we will be able to promote ASEAN culture and the arts which have the potential to be the foundation of social reform and cohesion, as well as sources of regional pride and instruments for establishing a deeper and more meaningful ties of camaraderie and cooperation, “he said.

More than two hundred participants from 33 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from seven countries took part in the three-day ASEAN Languages and Edutourism Summit (ALES).

As a facilitator, BukSU International Affairs Unit expressed their gratitude to the video editors, Mr. Gelbert Cabunoc (BukSU Museum), Mr. IJ Patrick Enot (BukSU OP-IPS), Mr. Mark Mukara, and to all the students who put a lot of effort into all the entries that were submitted.
