MALAYBALAY CITY – Amul-Amul ta BukSU, a cultural concert hosted by the university,wasbranded as ‘superb and beyond entertainment’ by the audiences after the concluded concert at the main gymnasium, which happened on October 19, 2022.
The term “Amul” is a binukid word which means “to gather.”
Dr. Regina B. Dumdumaya, PE Chairperson, said during BukSU Updates interview aired on October 26, 2022 that the objectives of the concert are for entertainment and for the whole studentry to witness the different talents of the students and personnel after two years of no face-to-face cultural activities.
The concert was initiated by the Office of the Student Services headed by Dr. Lorenzo Dinlayan, which was supported by the Physical Education Department.
“This will be a magnificent display of our province’s rich culture, interpreted through the virtuosic performances of BukSU’s very own talents,” she said.
She added that it was also to celebrate the Indigenous Peoples Month.
Select high school and college students, personnel, and alumni of the university are the performers during the concert. Most of them, Dr. Dumdumaya said, are from the Physical Education Department, since they are also preparing for the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Competition 2022.
The said concert was graced by different performances in Indigenous dance, folk dance, street dance, dance sport, contemporary dance, live band, as well as solo singing and dancing.
Dr. Dumdumaya cited teamwork as one important factor in the success of the concert.
“To be perfect is impossible, but with teamwork, it is possible,” she said.
This concert was divided into three shows with various time slots from 8:30-11:00 AM, 2:00- 4:00 PM, and 5:00- 7:00 PM.
Dr. Dumdumaya announced that the production team is planning to have another round of Amul-Amul ta BukSU concert, this time, with complete costumes and props. (Diana Rose B. Lagoy/OP-IPS)
