BukSU receives bronze award in CSC’s 2021 ‘Parangal at Pasasalamat’

MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Bukidnon State University received a bronze award during the 121st Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service on September 21, 2021.

Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez accepted the award during the virtual CSC-Region 10 Parangal at Pasasalamat streamed live at the CSC Regional Office No. 10 FB Page.

Bukidnon State University was chosen by the CSC for the said award pursuant to CSC Resolution No. 2001036 dated December 7, 2020 for having managed and implemented its human resource management systems according to documented processes, thereby achieving a process defined HRM in the four core HRM systems under the Enhanced Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM).

The plaque was signed by Ms. Alicia dela RODA-BALA, chairperson and Ms. Aileen Lourdes A. Lizada, Commissioner.

Moreover, Mr. Zenas B. Paloma, department chair of the College of Nursing was also recognized during the event who served as a judge of the CSC 2021 online photography contest entitled “Pagtugon ng Lingkod Bayani sa Patuloy na hamon ng pandemya”.

The CSC used three steps in the selection process of PRIME-HRM. First, “Assess” which included: recruitment, selection and placement, Learning and Development, Performance and management, Rewards and recognition. Second, “Assist”, which showed an excellent public service, then third is “Award”.

The CSC spearheaded month-long activities in September, introducing a 10- year overarching theme, Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes.

The celebration reflects the path the civil service has to take to build on the gains of last year’s modernization efforts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of HR in building a competent and credible workforce in the new normal.

The Philippine Civil Service was established by virtue of Public Law No. 5 – An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands on 19 September 1900. Every week, government agencies adopted sub-themes to highlight different stories of government employees.

In BukSU, the different major offices sponsored the weekly leg of the celebration.

The Office of the Vice President for Administration, Planning, and Development sponsored the first week activities focused on “Linggo ng Lingkod Bayani” from September 1-10.

The Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations sponsored the second week activities focused on “Linggo ng Paglilinang ng Yamang Tao” from September 13-17.

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs led the third week leg of the celebration focused on Linggo ng Malasakit from September 20-24.

The Human Resources Development Unit spearheaded the Week 4 events focused on “Linggo ng Pasasalamat” from September 27-30.

During the virtual closing and awarding ceremony of BukSU on September 30, 2021, Dr. Cabañelez emphasized excellence as part of the university tradition.

“Even before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bukidnon State University has always been in pursuit of honing agile and future-ready servants. This is sure in our vision- innovative and ethical leaders for sustainable development. Innovative in bringing about into reality, our goals and objectives. Ethical with our processes and procedures,” he said.

BukSU, he added is a legendary institution with 97 years of excellence, virtuosity and brilliance.

“These qualities are even more evident in the type of community leaders, servant workers and professionals that we have produced all through the years. BukSU has produced graduates with quality and agility, “Dr. Cabañelez, University President said. (OP-IPS)
