MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Dr. Oscar B. Cabańelez, Bukidnon State University President, told the BukSU Updates Radio Program on August 19, 2020 that the university will open classes, as scheduled, on August 24, 2020.
The University President said classes in all levels, except for the College of Law, will start on schedule to give time for orientations and preparations (see related story). The College of Law started classes on August 3, 2020.
Based on Memorandum No. 92 issued by Dr. Cabańelez on July 16, 2020, the schedule of the first day of classes in all levels following the Flexible Learning Systems was set on August 24, 2020, in light of the national and local government’s regulations, the Commission on High Education’s (CHED) latest advisories 6 and 7 and the approval of the BukSU Board of Regents on June 10, 2020.
Dr. Cabańelez clarified that the opening of classes will go on as planned since the face-to-face learning is not implemented, instead flexible learning modalities will be used.
Even if the Department of Education has moved their classes to October 5, 2020, he added, BukSU will start the classes of its elementary and secondary laboratory schools on August 24. Further, student interns may proceed with flexible on-campus learning. When DepEd begins its classes, the student interns can proceed also with their off-campus learning in their schools.
Dr. Cabañelez emphasized that the university had non-stop webinars and meetings in the preparation for the opening of classes. He noted for example the conduct of cascading of University Policies held on August 19, 2020. (OP-Information and Publication Services)
