
The Bukidnon State University through the Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) headed by Dr. Joy M. Mirasol as coordinator, brought the Team of Extensionists from the different colleges to act as documenters to the 2nd Mindanao PAMB Network Conference held last August 29-31, 2017 at the Grand Palace, Butuan City. The participation of BUkSU-IEG is part of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH funded extension project of BukSU titled “Strengthening Management of Mindanao Protected Areas Network towards Bio-Cultural Diversity Conservation and Sustainable Development”. This project addresses one of the extension thrusts and priorities of the university on Environmental awareness.
This conference was organized by DENR and COSERAM, a GIZ funded project. The conference were participated by protected area management practitioners from Regions 9 to 13. The participants were mostly Protected Area Superintendents (PASus), representatives from the local government units particularly the provincial and municipal planning and development offices, and the local chief executives. The conference serves as an avenue among PAMB members and Protected Area (PA) practitioners for the exchange of experiences, lessons learned and practices, and community-based initiatives relative to the management of their respective PAs.
