The Language and Letters, after successfully completing its extension project with the Military in Malaybalay Bukidnon entitled Innovative Strategies for the Professional Military Education, has now created a link with the City Government under the auspices of the City Mayor Inaki Zubiri. The project is called English in the Workplace.
This project intends to assist the local government unit employees, and barangay and purok secretaries in their communication needs relevant to their workplaces.
Because of its relevance, the project proposal on this extension project was approved by the University last October 2015.
The Memorandum of Agreement between Bukidnon State University represented by Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez, the City Government represented by Hon. Zubiri, and the League of Baranggay Secretaries represented by its president, Ms. Vilma Tajor signed the MOA to make the venture official last December 2015.
It was incepted when offices like the City Environment and Natural Resources Office sought for enrichment training for its employees concerning conventions of writing office documents, proper document formats, and grammatical conventions. Sessions were conducted to this effect.
Also, the Language and Letters Faculty was tapped as resource persons during the training on Technical Writing for employees in the LGU of Malaybalay on June 25, 2015.
Likewise, the League of Barangay Secretaries (LBS) requested for trainings on document management. The Language and Letters Department conducted consultative meetings with the LBS for the needs assessment and scheduling last even in the year 2014.
The department is currently working on the diagnostic test to be administered to the clienteles. Writing the test items and validation of the test are done by the assigned faculty members.
