CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (IPS) The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – 10 Regional Office has awarded Bukidnon State University (BukSU) as its Best Institutional Environment Partner in the region for the academe category.
Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, Vice President for Research, Extension and International Affairs (VPREIA), received the award for BukSU on June 28, 2019 at the DENR – 10 Regional Office during the culmination of the celebration of the Environment Month.
The award was given to BukSU for its significant contribution in enhancing knowledge of Local Government Unit (LGU) chief executives and environmental partners towards the protection of Nature and Management of Natural Resources.
BukSU was likewise recognized as a dedicated and significant partner in the capacity and organization development of the Mindanao Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) Network in partnership with the GIZ-COSERAM Project leading to improved Protected Area (PA) Management, sustained biodiversity conservation and increased inter-action among PA key stakeholders in Mindanao.
Dr. Mirasol spearheaded the university-wide extension project entitled Strengthening Mindanao PAMB Network towards Bio-cultural Diversity Conservation and Sustainable Development, in partnership with the Federal Government of Germany, the Deuthche Gessellschaft fur Internationale Zusammernarbeit (GIZ).
In this project, Dr. Mirasol led the BukSU Institute for Environment Government (BukSU –IEG) towards establishing mechanisms for Mindanao PAMB Network Functionality.
The BukSU IEG is composed of Mr. Christian J. Inovejas, Ms. Joan M. Recente, Ms. Ana Ninfa B. Caballero, Mr. Jose Benito C. Ronolo, Ms. Nova Thirdy Agravante, Mr. Chaseur Leo Vann O. Ontolan, Mr. Retche P. Colegado and Ms. Angelica May S. Fortin.
Dr. Mirasol said the award was a manifestation of BukSU’s commitment to be innovative leaders for sustainable environment conservation and development- a feat which she said would not be possible without the fervent support of the BukSU Administration, Personnel and Stakeholder.
