BukSU pledges continued support for international partnerships with Canada

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) pledged continued support for international academic partnerships and eco-friendly initiatives at the 2nd General Assembly of the Philippine-Canada Network for Sustainability (PCNS), held on September 14, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Representing BukSU University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, Ms. Rachel-Anne S. Valera, Program Chair for Faculty Mobility under the International Affairs and Linkages Unit (IALU), accepted the university’s official Certificate of Membership during the assembly.

A member of the PCNS consortium since 2023, BukSU joined partner institutions and international stakeholders to strengthen bilateral academic linkages, exchange best practices, and explore inter-institutional initiatives focused on sustainable development and capacity building.

“Through its continued participation in PCNS, BukSU remains committed to building meaningful partnerships, sharing knowledge, and contributing to initiatives that support sustainability and institutional development,” IALU posted.

IALU added that the assembly served as a strategic platform for member institutions to align research goals, explore joint faculty and student mobility frameworks, and formulate collaborative projects addressing regional and global sustainability challenges.

The PCNS originated from a collaborative effort between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from the Philippines and Canada. With the backing of the Commission on Higher Education, the PCNS was formally established to promote international collaboration in advancing sustainability-focused education and training. PCNS was launched in 2023 and now includes over 70 focused member institutions, driving projects in climate action, environmental planning, sustainable development and agricultural innovations (BukSU – Information Unit)
