IT faculty researchers top paper awards at RCITE 2026

Researchers and presenters from Bukidnon State University (BukSU), College of Technologies – Information Technology Department, earned recognition at the Regional Conference on Information Technology Education (RCITE) and General Assembly 2026, held on September 17–18, 2026, at Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Iligan City.

The BukSU researchers received awards across two major research tracks. Dr. Psyche T. Malabo received the 1st Best Paper award under Track 1: Intelligent Computing, Optimization, and Emerging Technologies for the study “Simulation-Driven Optimization of Vehicle Localization Parameters for Improved Positioning Accuracy.” Glaiza Mae A. Libe earned 2nd Best Paper in the same track for “MQTT-Enabled Web-Based Plant Monitoring System for Real-Time Botanical Garden Environmental Monitoring.”

Under Track 2: Digital Transformation and Human-Centered Information Systems, Joan Marie M. Panes received 2nd Best Paper for “Development and Evaluation of a Student Consultation Management Web Application with Keyword Extraction.” Louie Jay S. Labastida, together with his co-authors Eric F. Alenton, Jamgica Lorgine Anthonette I. Dumagt, Alexa Gin P. Jagape, and Jessa Niña C. Llaban, received 3rd Best Paper for “An Integrated Smart Wearable and Mobile Application for Real-Time Patient Monitoring.”

The recognized studies demonstrate the application of information technology to different areas, including vehicle positioning, environmental monitoring, student services, and patient monitoring. These research outputs reflect the researchers’ efforts to develop technology-based solutions addressing practical needs in different sectors.

The conference carried the theme “Educating Minds. Sustaining Lives. Leading with AI,” highlighting the role of technology, research, and artificial intelligence in education and community development. Through research presentations and academic exchange, the event provided researchers with opportunities to share their work, receive feedback, and engage with fellow educators, researchers, and technology practitioners.
