‘Compassion-Driven Local Solutions Validate BukSU’s Global Standing’ says BukSU President Mirasol at the 2025 Extension Week Celebration

The annual Extension Week 2025 celebration at Bukidnon State University (BukSU) officially began on October 13, 2025, with the week’s theme, “Partnership in Collective Action: Local Solutions for Global Goals,” setting the tone for the University’s commitment to service, empowerment, and sustainability.

University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol emphasized that true progress occurs when communities, government, academia, and other sectors unite toward common goals.

She highlighted that the University’s global recognitions affirm that its local solutions, grounded in compassion, science, and collaboration, are making a real difference globally.

Mirasol urged the community to view the celebration as a reaffirmation of their role as changemakers, continuing to “serve with humility, innovate with purpose, and build partnerships” that create sustainable impact.

The Kagbuliga Awards

The University acknowledged its project partners and collaborators from government agencies, LGUs, private institutions, people’s organizations, and community groups for their trust and generosity on October 14, 2025, at the University Auditorium.

Mirasol emphasized that the event celebrated the partnerships that breathe life into BukSU’s vision of transformative service. She stressed that extension initiatives are one of the strongest pillars of BukSU’s pursuit of excellence.

Known as the Kagbuliga Awards, this traditional university recognition honors partners for their collaborative work in transforming lives and strengthening communities.

“These partners were honored as not just allies, but co-builders of hope and catalysts for sustainable development,” said Dr. Jiemalyn B. Paulican, Director for the Extension Services and Community Engagement Unit (ESCEU). 

Faculty, staff, and students were also recognized for continuously embodying the call to “Grow Through Sharing.”

The final call to action urged everyone to continue being each other’s KAGBULIGA (allies in action, compassion, and transformation) in building a brighter future.
