BukSU Lantapan Joins Tree Growing for 59th Araw ng Lantapan Celebration

Faculty and staff of Bukidnon State University–Lantapan Campus stepped outside their academic roles to take part in a tree-growing initiative on June 11, 2025, and contribute to the municipality’s environmental efforts during its 59th Araw ng Lantapan celebration.

The activity, organized by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lantapan, was held the Communal Forest in Babahagon, Poblacion.

Participants from the university joined other volunteers in planting tree seedlings across designated portions of the communal forest. The initiative is in line with efforts to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 on Climate Action, which includes addressing the impacts of climate change through reforestation, and SDG 15 on Life on Land, which centers on restoring and managing terrestrial ecosystems.

The activity also involved coordination between BukSU–Lantapan and the local government, which aligns with SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. The event provided a platform for cooperation between public sector institutions on environmental management at the community level.

University officials noted that participation in the tree-growing activity is consistent with the campus’s civic engagements and local involvement initiatives.
