BukSU Athletes Contribute 10 Medals to Region X in SCUAA Games

Bukidnon State University fielded 34 athletes and 11 coaches across multiple disciplines and returned with a total of 10 medals—1 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze.

Sprinter Skcoreij M. Ozarraga led Bukidnon State University’s performance at the 2025 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games, clocking 10.73 seconds to win gold in the men’s 100-meter event and securing a bronze in the 200-meter race.

Ozarraga, a second-year Business Administration student, posted the university’s highest individual achievement in this year’s competition, held April 23–27 on Camiguin Island. He is also scheduled to compete at the Philippine Athletics Championships in New Clark City, Tarlac, from May 1 to 4.

BukSU student-athletes were among Region X’s representatives in the national event, which drew participants from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in 13 regions, along with delegations from the National Capital Region (NCR), Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The university fielded 34 athletes and 11 coaches across multiple disciplines and returned with a total of 10 medals—1 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze.

Outside athletics, BukSU competitors contributed to the tally in various sports. In badminton, Ged Shareef earned bronze, while Cyrill Dinie S. Robeniol added another bronze in lawn tennis.

The women’s futsal team, with Khirsten E. Comia among its players, delivered a silver medal for the region.

In martial arts, BukSU collected five medals. Mark Amancio took silver in Karatedo, while TC Vash Everett Marshburn earned a bronze in the same event. The Taekwondo team contributed three medals: silver medals from Miane S. Banda and Ezra Yuvela D. Palo, and a bronze from Blir C. Layao.

The university’s participation was supported by the Office of the Vice President for Culture, Arts, Sports and Student Services (OVPCASSS), which coordinated preparations and logistics for the delegation.
