Bukidnon State University (BukSU) underwent an external validation process to assess the effectiveness of its gender mainstreaming initiatives and compliance with national and international standards.
The evaluation was focused on the university’s Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation using the GMEF Tool, and Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Functionality Assessment based on GAD Focal Point System Functionality Assessment Tool (GFAsT).
The Philippine Commission on Women-North Mindanao Field Office led the independent validation at BukSU’s Research Building Conference Room on February 20-21, 2025.
Gender and Development (GAD) Specialist II Patricia Mae I. Mabalos and Supervising GAD Specialist Hamilcar B. Chanjueco Jr. evaluated the university’s gender-responsive policies, programs, and governance structures.
BukSU Chairperson of the GFPS GAD Focal Committee and a member of the GFPS TWG Dr. Marichu Montecillo said that the university sees external validation as a way to strengthen its gender mainstreaming efforts.
“By undergoing this process, the university not only demonstrates its commitment to gender equality and inclusive development but also contributes to the broader goal of promoting women’s equality and empowerment in higher education,” said Montecillo.
The validation results are expected to inform BukSU’s strategies for fostering a more inclusive and gender-responsive academic environment. (BukSU-Information Unit)
