Bukidnon State University (BukSU) hosted an info session for the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships Programme on January 16, 2025, at the University Mini-Theater with New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Dr. Catherine McIntosh along with representatives from the New Zealand Embassy and two incoming scholars (faculty member and an alumnus) from BukSU.
“To our aspiring scholars, educators, and changemakers in the audience: let today be a source of inspiration to think boldly and aim high. As we listen to the resource speakers and explore this partnership’s opportunities, I urge you to engage actively—ask questions, share your thoughts, and express your aspirations,” SMART BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol expressed.
“We are incredibly proud to acknowledge that one of our faculty members from the Development Communication Department, Ms. Tyresse L. Matias, has been granted the prestigious Manaaki Scholarship on Disaster Risk Management at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand,” Mirasol added.
Ambassador McIntosh took the stage to discuss the strong connection between Aotearoa New Zealand and the Philippines, highlighting the opportunities available through the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships Programme.
Ms. Dyan Mabunga Rodriguez, IDC Manager of New Zealand International Development Cooperation, provided further details about the program and its benefits. (BukSU-Information Unit)
