To promote innovative teaching strategies, the BukSU Extension Project, led by the Master of Arts in English Language Teaching (MA-ELT) of the College of Education and PhD English Graduate Program and the College of Arts and Sciences, brought together dedicated educators from the Department of Education (DepEd) in Bukidnon, District VI, on November 4, 2023. The full-day program, designed to elevate the art of teaching reading.
Dr. Maricel R. Inovejas, Project Leader, presented the project’s rationale and objectives specifying the universities intent to enhance pedagogical content knowledge of DepEd teachers.
Mr. Noel A. Tan Nery, District Supervisor of District VI, underscored the significance of ongoing professional development for the elementary and secondary educators. He expressed gratitude to the BukSU extensionists for their assistance in enriching the teaching skills of DepEd educators, particularly in the vital area of student reading education.
Ms. Gem Aiah B. Blanco, ISA Program Chair and COE Extensionist, delved into “Revisiting Anderson & Krathwohl’s Taxonomy.”
Dr. Elle Christine D. Melendez, Quality Assurance Director and LLD Extensionist, discussed “Assessment Tools in Reading” while Dr. Cecille Marie T. Improgo, CITL Director and COE Extensionist, presented “Framework and Models of Reading.”
In the afternoon session, educators participated in tailored break-out sessions. High school teachers were guided by Dr. Cecille Marie T. Improgo and Dr. Maricel R. Inovejas and Elementary teachers were led by Ms. Rachel Joan T. Toledo, Department Head of Elementary Education with Ms. Chiza T. Balane, COE Extensionist.
