MALAYBALAY CITY – Bukidnon State University, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Local Government of Malaybalay, Bukidnon collaborated in the recently conducted iSCENE2023: International Smart City Exposition and Networking Engagement to conceptualize projects to develop a Smart and Sustainable Community, piloting the City of Malaybalay on May 4, 2023.
The DOST headed by Provincial Director Ritchie Mae L. Guno initiated the meeting together with the delegates of Bukidnon. Mr Dante S. Victoria, BukSU Vice President for Administration and Finance was present during the event.
Ms. Maria Rosario Saldua from the City Planning and Development Office of Malaybalay supported by Mr. Salick Darangina of LGU-MIS Unit presented their initial assessment of the City’s current status versus the indicators identified by the Smart City Framework of DOST-PCIEERD.
Through this, DOST-Bukidnon and BukSU representatives Dr. Marilou O. Espina, Dr. Jiemalyn B. Paulican, and Mr. Donald Donasco initially identified possible S&T intervention, including areas for research and development.
The collaboration between DOST, BukSU, and the LGU demonstrates a multi-stakeholder approach, ensuring that the projects are well-rounded and consider different perspectives. The Smart and Sustainable Communities Program has the potential to leverage technology, innovation, and data-driven solutions to enhance various aspects of urban living.
