MALAYBALAY CITY/ OP-IPS – Bukidnon State University launches its own Graduation March, originally composed and arranged by Mr. Pepito Montero held at the Office of the President Conference Room on September 16, 2022.
Mr. Pepito D. Montero, BukSU Rondalla Coordinator, was tasked by the University President, Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez, to compose a new graduation march.
Staffs from the President’s Office, OP-Information and Publication Services, and Chief Administrative Officer, Ms. Rosanna S. Generato were the attendees during the soft launching of the BukSU March.
Mr. Montero said he has spent a few nights thinking about the right tune for the march, which made him change his previous musical arrangements for several times.
“The composition of BukSU March is probably one of the most challenging tasks I have been given,” he said.
He also mentioned that the University President’s trust, his family, and the whole BukSU community served as his inspirations in finishing the BukSU March.
He also said that through “compassion and resilience” he was able to get through the hard days which made him feel more motivated.
In his BukSU Updates guesting last September 21, 2022, Mr. Montero said that the purpose of this (new BukSU March composition) is to have our own which is “tatak BukSU’.
He added that the BukSU march is purely instrumental with the tempo march of 87 beats per minute (bpm), and is very appropriate as background or accompaniment in marching tempo.
He also mentioned the instruments he used for the march which include piccolo, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, first and second trumpet, baritone, trombone, euphonium, tuba, timpani, bass drum, cymbals, snare drums, and strings.
Mr. Montero also shared that the Sibelius software, a highly sophisticated music writing software, has also helped his task easier in creating the BukSU march.
“I need to wake up early in the morning, probably by 2 or 3 a.m, because during that time, I have a clear mind and away from the disturbance,” he said.
Mr. Montero also mentioned that the representation of BukSU March every time it is played during events is that the university already has its own graduation march without having to use another music composition as background or accompaniment for any occasions. He also added that he is still planning to add some musical instruments to harmonize the brass and wind instruments. (Diana Rose B. Lagoy/OP-IPS)
